Why do people trash Vestby? It seems to me that he is the driving force behind the team and without him Swan would be back in the North Central Hockey League (or wherever). Getting players to commit to the team has to be difficult. Face the facts. The town is small, the rink is substandard for junior hockey, long road trips, abrasive fans who thrive on gossip and innuendo about players' personal lives and a small budget make it a less than a "first choice" opportunity for kids looking to play hockey. Given the preceeding facts, you are lucky to have Guy Vestby...who else would even consider the job? Just think! If the Stampeders folded you could pack the rink to watch Swan River battle Benito in the senior league playoffs. Won't that be such fun?

The fact isn't that Guy is that bad, The problem is that the people of Swan River need new hope. Guy has been on the bench for the past 2 1/2 seasons and has not put together a winning team. In fact people in Swan need to blame someone and that person seems to be Guy. I think the Fans might of got back on the band wagon if a new Head coach and Gm was brought in. The board could of and should of kept Guy involved as director of player personal and Hockey operations and not made as public. working behind the seances is never a bad idea. Guy has made some good trades and the team apparently is making money. as hard as that is to say I give him credit, but I also agree with most of the public that it was time for a different image for the stampeders. I'm a hockey fan in general and hope that the stamps will remain in the MJHL for years to come, so saying this i hope the board has made the right descision
