http://watch.ctv.ca/news/clip165938#clip165938 Here is the link to the video! Now you cannot say that he actually stuck his knee out. If you say that you have never played hockey or are just completely ****ed. He was getting ready to make the hit legs wide to be sturdy and Pillar tried to cut around him. There is no intent to knee at all. Like I said if you think there is you are just jealous of the Terriers or have never played hockey!
Live in Winnipeg truly hoping for the Terriers, however I have to disagree with you on this one buddy. That was a dirty knee and the call was correct. That was just a plain stupid play, something that Avery would do. I've also coached and played at high levels of hockey.
The ref didn't cost you that game. You can also tell that the kid new he screwed up after that bonehead play.
more has a reputation of being dirty so when that happens of course he is going to get 5min. In the selkirk series i saw a hit from behind and a spear. He is lucky he didn't get suspended for the hit from behind on robinson maybe kim davis will give him 1 or 2 games for this and send the kid a little message for next year.
As a Terrier fan. Right call on the Penalty. My view is simple. Had them down 3 games to 1 and blew it. Broncos full marks for the come back. Thanks to both teams for a great series and proof that Junior a Hockey can be amazing to watch one for the books.
it doesn't matter if you stick your knee out or not. what matters is that more went for the players knee and connected. that is what constitutes a kneeing penalty. and if the player is injured, then its a five for intent. all more thinks about is making big hits - clean or dirty - it doesn't matter to him. so don't think it was just an accident. more does this sh it every game, and he tries to do it every shift. i wouldn't be suprised if he was given his card in the off-season.
Bad play by More, intentional dirty hit. I don't know if he is responsible for Portage losing but he was a major contributor to the outcome. Sometimes Karma's a bitch. I don't think Cornelson will feel sorry for More.
Clearly a cheapshot and the ref. right there with his hand up in the air.
Next during the power play Portage gets caught on a poor line change for the first power play goal. Second power play goal from a poor clearing attempt, broncos score. The overtime winning goal: why did'nt that Portage d-man cover that Bronco rushing to the net to the left of him...was he blind!
Seems like the team fell apart after that 5 min. pen. by More. Its all caught on the video.
I was hoping Portage would win too.
Wow. You can watch that and say it was not a knee and that if we disagree we have never played! I hate Leopky as a ref, but that was blatant and he made the right call.
more is going to be the most hated player in portage
tough thing to live with but that's hockey. he cost them the win
portage would do well to trade this kid. portage fans will never forgive him for this
Thanks for posting the video link! Before you make a comment play it frame by frame starting at 1:05.More's feet are planted and turning hard to the right with knees together.Humboldt player trying to cut to his left and avoid the hit.At 1:06 they hit without his knee coming out passed his body or hip. PAUSE it at 1:06...
Although there legs collided that's a very questionable call.Another arrogant ref deciding the outcome!
However it was a great run and final series which I enjoyed so thank you Terriers for another entertaining year.
look you can't blame the kid for the loss of entire series.. its the way he plays, and like it or not hes effective, trust me i've played against him and its no fun. hes a big part of the reason they got there in the first place because he plays on the edge. it would be a big misake to run this kid out of town over a play that was not planned.. it was dirty and definatly worthy of a 5 but he absoluteltly didnt go in looking to knee the kid, it happens so fast tho and if youre a fraction off on timing or positioning thats what happens.. tough break
Oh big whoop, you can break a replay down frame by frame and judge based on a still frame that there may not have been intent on the penalty. In real time, at game speed, the hit looks brutal. Intent does not always dictate a penalty, the outcome plays a factor as well. If penalties were decided only based on true intent it would probably reduce penalties by 50%, but then we will never know what is going on inside a player's head anyways.
why hold back in the biggest game of the season and probably your life? i know they were up big but still, you never hold anything back, and you dont change your game in game 7.. like i said this is how the kid plays and to expect any different in game 7 of the anavant is nuts.. And i wanna make it clear that im not a portage fan or a more fan i just think youre being a bit tough on the kid
Bullsh=t. This kid is a backstabbing little puke that constantly hits from behind or head checks. This was no accident and was full intent to injure. This is not new to More only it cost him and his teammates big time for once. Listen I love a kid that plays flat out but this kid is usually over the line and he injures opponents. My condolences to Portage because they deserved better but I have no empathy for More. And for Spiller to defend that. I thought you were a better man than that Blake. How about the Bronco kid that was injured? Any concerns there or is it just for little more's little feelings.
Doesn't matter the situation. He was reacting to try to trip or interfere with the Humbolt player. Intent was there, and it happenned that he catches him high and the penalty is called. I hate leppky as a ref, but when more looks up after the contact, he is not complaining. He is waiting to see what was going to be called. No arguement by him. Guilty as charged.
just watched the clip, i don,t understand why he just didn,t give him a clean open ice hit, the opportunity was there. didn,t have to stick his knee out...
it was knee on knee he didnt stick it out u all need glasses...er what....both players are at fault 2 min minor not 5 min.....but i dont blame the ref we had many chances to get that puck out on the pk....thanks boys was a great year...spilly did a great job this year...should be a great year again next year......
I too just watched the video and it was definitely a penalty. Loeppky made the right call because the guy got injured. It sucks that this play turned the game and momentum in Humboldt's favor and ended up costing the dogs a trip to Victoria.
not sure I agree it was a 5 minuter as it appeared to me they both collided. But I'm not the ref and he has to call something. However, as stated above, that wasn't the be all and end all. It was a turning point but the Dogs had the chance to win despite that.
Loepky usually sticks it to the home team on these "judgement calls" so it's not just Portage here.....he's done it to all teams. It's almost like he likes getting booed and yelled at. He thrives on it. So no surprise here. His reffing has helped us as much as it has screwed us. There just never seems to be any in between for him. One team always leaves unhappy. This time it was the Terriers and it was on a big stage. Next time it will be someone else. Life goes on and at least you know what you're gonna get, like it or not.
so you agree then that it was at least a 2 minute penalty for kneeing? (not sure how anyone with normal eyesight could not agree)
If the Bronco dude had gotten up right away and skated to the bench it would have only been a 2 minute penalty, but because he was injured IT HAD TO BE CALLED A 5 MIN PENALTY - THAT IS THE RULE.
So enough already with the doubts about the call. It was the right call, if you let donkey's like More run around doing whatever they want and only getting 2 min., then there are going to be a whole lotta injuries.
Yes there is a place for aggressive players, but the 5 min majors and misconducts are there to hopefully discourage the odd donkey from ruining another players career.
How about this...if More layed on the ice for 10 minutes too and was helped off the ice, there may have been no call. There is some room for judgement there and you know it. Are you saying everytime someone lays on the ice the ref HAS to call 5 minutes? No, he has to decide the severity of it. I'm not saying Allen was faking....I have no idea how he is and nor did Garth. People exaggerate hits you know. You've never seen someone go down from a relatively clean hit, lay on the ice like they were dead and then return 5 minutes later when the penalty is being served? Again, I'm not saying this is Allen and for all I know he's skating already or could miss the RBC. We don't know that and Garth didn't at the time either. He has to make a judgement call. And he did, like it or not.
There may be things in the book, but the ref always has a choice. I think it was more of a collision than anything. You think it was a deliberate knee. We agree to disagree I guess. The only decision that matters was Garth's, not mine or yours, so why are you trying to argue it on the internet. You think one way, I think another. It's an opinion.
look nobody is denying that it was a filthy knee but you cant blame the series on the kid. what happened in the 12-2 loss. portage gets game 6 and 7 at home and lose both. they had the series wrapped up and they choked. they had humboldt on the ropes and they blew it. portage wouldnt of even made it to the anavet if the saints didnt choke against selkirk. they should be proud of their season.
first off it was not allan it was taylor pillar and right now he s questionable for the rbc. he didnt skate at practice today. and he was obviously hurt as he had to be carried to centre ice when they presented him with the medal. seeing the video the hit is worse than i originally thought and more new it. you can see it in his reaction after he made it. the rule says a 5 min major must be called if the player is hurt and pillar is hurt. right call and you retards have no arguement.
this is black and white. there is no grey area. whether it was deliberate or not is irrelevant.
More definetely initiated the hit, so it was not just a collision. More was trying to take him out and that is fine if it is done legally. It wasn't, and only a relative or More himself would argue otherwise.
The Bronco dude never returned to the game. Loeppky was right there and saw the viscousness of the impact and he was right not to doubt that there was a legitimate injury. Even if the Bronco dude did return it is still the right call. The ref has to take the side of the player that has been taken out.
To the poster who said the Terriers wouldn't have made it past the Saints. How can that be, the Saints weren't tough enough to beat the Steelers, who Portage beat in 5. I can guarantee you they would have been scrapping Saints players off the ice against Humboldt. They have no team toughness, and a bunch of goal scorers. Anyone who knows anything about hockey, will tell you that won't work during the grueling playoff runs. The proof is in the pudding. All you have to do is look at the Saints loses in the playoffs the last two years to know that. Just keep racking up the points against lowly teams, and will keep winning our champinoships.
The Broncos made it a habit all series to lay on the ice whenever they got hit hard. Seemed they were trying to drum up a lot of 5 minute calls. Hunter was the worst of them. Letkeman's hit was not from behind. Caught him from the side. But Hunter's reaction was a typical Bronco response.
I had a couple of people around me say that they saw Piller putting weight on the leg when he got up and then he suddenly needed help. Could it be the trainer was telling him something?
In any event, nothing will change now.
And, for you anti More posters, there are 10 other teams in the league that would jump at the opportunity to acquire More.
Near as I can tell, the guy above you did a post to the most recent Blades thread, then went ape-sh!t with his computer(based on the times), screwing up the forum. Stupid...
