I can't believe Swan hired Dwaynw Kirkup to be there coach. You have got to be kidding me. They have 15 applicants for the job and then Guy approaches this guy outside of that and gives him the job. However, they will be good for each other as they are 2 peas in a pod. Hire a readl coach that players like will play for and try and bring some respect back to hockey in the valley.

Just wondering if this is the same Kirkup family....Mitch Kirkup played some hockey here for the Stamps a few years ago and Steven Kirkup has just started with Cargill Grain here in Swan Valley.As to the previous poster,you do not know how many appies there where,so stuff your ignorant comments and try and give people a chance!!!!

is he good technically?
is he a players coach?
Are the players accountable on and off the ice?
I hear he coached in Brandon University how did he do?

Nice to see kirkup getting a junior job well deserved I think Swan fans and players will be pleasently surprised at what he brings to the table and how the players react to him, I hope they like disipline, Good Luck

The Swan Valley Stampeders have hired Dwayne Kirkup as their new head coach.

Kirkup, most recently coach of the Southwest Cougars Midget AAA program, gets a two year deal.

Kirkup, a native of Souris MB, has gained coaching experience over the last twenty years through being involved in minor hockey in his hometown, as well as with the AAA Midget Cougars. He's also been involved with the Brandon Bobcats of the CIS and the Souris Elks at the senior level.

Kirkup has coached the Cougars for the last three years and General Manager Guy Vestby says Kirkup's most recent experience at the AAA level provides him with first hand knowledge of many current and future players in the MJHL.

Why did an American start this thread?
Why is bringing in a coach who knows the AAA players coming up a bad thing?
