Smalley had McMillan on air and sounds like agrees with most people and that the draft format is a terrible idea. Also said all players are expected back except Samson which sucks cuz he played pretty well. Something about wanting to be a lawyer?? At least the coach is getting his feet wet and heading to some tournaments in the States which is good.GO BLIZZ!

Why head to the states for tournaments? To scout and recruit? He needs to look in his own back yard and scout the north. McDougal did it and his team had a core of northern players which lead to championships. All the five championship teams OCN produced were loaded with northern talent.

Miles Stevens wouldn't last in the Blizzard Organization, He's a drunk and a pot head. He'd probably end up in jail like other natives that been at the hockey level of the MJHL.

Northern Talent

June 2 2009, 10:49 PM

This is a new coach. He's never been in Northern Mb. for any length of time and wouldn't know which kids would be drafts picks. Hunter wedged his nose in there again, pretending to be in the know but he never goes anywhere to see anyone so how could he know? Also if the coach is going to the States to scout; where does all those college teams get players? From Canada, duhhh...

scouting

alot of kids that play in these tournaments are Canadian you moron. Quit flapping your lips when you have know idea what you1re talking about, and quit blaming Hunter for your kid not getting drafted. OCN pretty much new which kids they wanted at the end of last season before it was announced that Hedley wasn`t going to be brought back.

the glory years

June 3 2009, 1:35 PM

back when OCN was winning championships they moved alot of kids on to school and semi pro leagues. It`s been a few years since they have had a core of kids like they do now and scouts are watching guys like Warkentin, Butternowski, Aime, Friesen, Pearson, etc. so if scouts are showing up to watch these guys anybody else on the team who stands out will be noticed as well. There is big expectations for this years team and the GLMC should be rocking like we started to see again last year. With the right additions this will be a very good team, on paper right now they are a better club than this years RBC hosts in Dauphin. The recent addition of a guy like Geddes is big for the Blizzard and rumour has it there are more to come.

Dauphin loading up

June 4 2009, 1:30 PM

easier said than done. Blizzard brass were told last year when it was announced that Dauphin got the RBC that there would be extra $$$ made available to the team to take a run at the RBC. Stay tuned folks Dauphin is in for a rough ride if they think this years MJHL title is going to get handed to them.
