Coaches fell to the wayside this past spring and some team have named replacements. Was there anything desided in King country. Being that they are hosting the RBC in 2010. Swan have a new coach along with Neepawa. Selkirks coach calls it quits and Saints and Blues follow suit in a way. OCN are on the back burners. This could be an interesting season. I know its only June.

The changes are numerous in the MJHL. Portage, Wayway, and Dauphin are the only teams not to make a change to their coaching staffs.

Winkler - Ernie Sutherland is out at the end of the summer (just ask him he'll tell you all about it), and Thiessen takes on full Coach and GM duties, look for an assistant coach to be added shortly.

Steinbach - Moves from Beausejour, Fires coach Walston, hires Rich Gosselin, no assistants named there yet either.

Winnipeg South Blues - Dump Ryan Smith, Lyle Loewen, and Jamie Leach (three guys that may re-surface with other teams this summer). Hire Don MacGillvary and Ray Neufeld (former Manitoba Bisons CIS coaches) to change the fortunes of the hapless South Blues.

Selkirk Steelers - Keith Cassidy packs it in after three seasons as the head coach of this storied franchise. No stars left in Selkirk so whoever takes over will have a few lean years.

Winnipeg Saints - Nothings been made official, but it looks like the Stokes era with the Saints is done, rumblings are that either Cassidy or Ryan Smith (or both) are the heir apparent).

Neepawa Natives - Bateman is out after it looked like they were finally reacting positively to him - oh well - too little too late! Bryant Perrier is the new guy there, but it's quiet as a mouse right now at Yellowhead Arena.

Swan Valley Stampeders - Dwayne Kurkup will step behind the bench in Swan. Decent knowledge of westman kids as he IS hockey in Souris, some AAA Midget exp too, might have been hired to be fired though, check back after the month of October, Guy may be the guy again.

OCN Blizzard - How they could say goodbye to Doug Hedley is still an absolute mystery??? The new coach will benefit from Doug's re-build. Scott McMillan has a ton of experience, but has NEVER lived and worked on the REZ. Can this rookie MJHL coach handle what will be insurmountable pressure?

As for the OCN, the board rolled the dice, by firing Hedley and going for a replacement, the new coach has a lot to prove, wheather he can deliver ?? we will have to give him the benefit of the doubt,, for now. Their going to have to do some PR work to sell season tickets, if they sit on their A$$"s,,,,luckey to pack in 2 or 3 hundred fans.. That's my take for what it is worth..
