| HAWES - PAYNE - PLESKACH - UPDATE
The Selkirk Steelers are extremely pleased to announce that Steelers alumni Adam Pleskach, Russ Payne and Blair Hawes have all come to terms with new hockey programs for the 2009/10 season. Adam Pleskach has committed to a scholarship at (AIC) American International College Yellow Jackets NCAA Division 1. Pleskach joins former Winkler Flyer Josh Froese. American International College plays in the Atlantic Hockey conference. Russ Payne has accepted a scholarship, and will be joining former Selkirk Steeler Matt Stengl and Portage Terrier Jeremy Dawes at St. Scholastica University NCAA Division 3. Blair Hawes has signed a professional contract to play for the Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League (CHL). Former Selkirk Steeler Hans Benson played for the Bucks prior to moving onto the American Hockey League. The Selkirk Steelers are sure that these young men will excel in their new hockey/school programs and we wish them all the best in the future.

Haven't seen a more deserving line come out in quite a while. It would have been a black eye to the league and Selkirk's program if any one of the three had missed continuing their carreer. All are local and all played every one of their Jr games in Selkirk. |
