| The Winkler Flyers are pleased to announce that their top offensive threat from last season will be back in their line-up for the 2009/2010 campaign. In this, his third final season with the club, twenty year-old forward Nick Lazorko will look to build upon last season's career year in which he scored 54 goals and racked up 103 points.
Those numbers were the best on the team and fifth best in the entire Manitoba Junior Hockey League. The All-Star from Rockwall, Texas also led the Flyers in playoff scoring earning over a point a game.
"If you insert 54 goals into your line-up at anytime that's a good thing. I talked to him the other day and he's pretty excited about coming back and we are very happy to have him back," said Flyers Head Coach and General Manager Mark Thiessen.
"Its pretty hard to stop the speed that he has and his tenacity and I expect him to be probably top five in scoring in the league if not better. He's also a pretty durable guy, he hasn't missed a whole lot of games in the few years that he's been here, so that's a bonus as well," Thiessen added.
Lazorko, who was named the teams MVP last season and is coming into his third campaign with the Orange and Black, will be called up once again for offense and to continue being one of the premiere players in the MJHL.
