Portage the hungrier team tonight. Stamps started slow. Bonar still looks like he is in a fog from being sent down from Moose Jaw. Swan will be ok. Will not be bottom feeders and should contend for 3rd or 4th.

Haven"t decided if we where that bad to- nite or Port. that good.Shots were close and team speed equal to-nite,but our heads where"nt in this game,no hitting, little back checking and our D stunk 1 to 6 and once again Ward left some juicy re- bounds. This game exposed one glaring weakness,we just aren"t big and tough enough up front. We where bumped off the puck right and left and lost two of the three tilts, one badly although I give Bonar alot of credit for standing in there with MacInnis, who is about 6-4 and 215 to Bonars 6-0 and 190.Full marks to Port. for the win, they came out hungry and sent a message......if they play like that all year and maybe even get better after Xmas,Dauphin is in a helluva lot of trouble...its gonna be fun!

Looks like Swan had one bad period (2nd). 3 good periods of hockey, and maybe the outcome would have been different.

I agree. Past years teams should not be a comparison to this year. All Swan can do is improve. Long way to go, game by game.

STRAKER>>>>GROW SOME BALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!looked like a pussy out there. Dont be scared to take on the big guys in the league, part of your job. You fight all the little weights in the league and think nothing of it and run away when the big guys come after you. Kudos for Bonar defending himself with the big guy.

here are some facts for re: Wincup...problem child at 17-18,native to Port. ...shipped out to Swan for next to nothing....terrible first year here,billets,curfews,...next year somewhat better...demanded to be traded back to Port. this spring....comes here as a 20 year old with a typical "I"ll show them guys" attitude and he did good ......so before you go yapping off about his release, do a little research..ok!!!!!

whincup's most inspired game ever in swan
he was lazy and unmotivated here before
hope he has a strong end to his junior career in his hometown
sometimes you need a change of scenery, and it wasn't working here for him

Straker's wrist is hurt!! What next!! Bottom line is that he wants no part of Letkeman since Letkeman has handled him quite easily for the past few years. If Straker's job is to take care of the big boys, well, he is not doing his job. Swan might want to find someone else.

If Straker's complaining of a sore wrist and running away from Letkeman then why was he fighting tonight? I call that -- SCARED!!!!

Not from Swan River, but aren't you guys happy with the 2nd place position winning percentage wise in the sherwood, and first with total points?

you might be laughing

September 26 2009, 1:13 AM

but 2 points now is the same as two points in January. Ward will take you to playoffs. Marshall, Stevens, Bonar and a few others are top notch junior A players. Anti-Vestby remarks are common on here, but he ain't coaching anymore and as GM he knows hockey.

Those of us here in Swan Valley who are "positive" types are quite pleased with results so far this year.Of course things can always change, but will take the wins now as things can change quickly.Kirkup is quickly getting to know everyone on the team and all the 'positive" supporters of the team around town.We haven"t hit the tough part of the sched yet and then we"ll see.
