Question for Doc ...

by The Dude

Now, I have been hanging around this boards for many many years, so I have been reading updates on what your always up to. And I'm just curious, for someone deciding to pick up a new hobby, why spend 10k or so on new gear when your not even sure how much you would enjoy it? Why not start small, and work ur way up ? Its kinda like the newbie going out and buying the 2k timmy or angel without ever having played. Just sounds kinda risky. I mean, I consider taking pictures a hobby of mine too, I particularly like to take pictures of lightning. And its all done with a craptacular digital camera. I do want to upgrade, just mentioning thats what I started with. And although the camera sucks, ther pics are nice, Ill share a few here. Just wondering, why spend so much so soon?

P.S.
I also like to take picutres of the food I cook, another weird hobby of mine. Its rarely 'presentable', but it just looks so tasty, I like looknig back and remembering, haha. But I wont post those pictures.
