No, but claiming he has no money to SHIP as he specifically said to one customer who felt bad enough to send MORE money to cover shipping. What say you?
-Can't speak for Pun, as you seem to want to, but I do know this business, as most self-employment, is very much "feast and famine". I'll have weeks where I'm flush, my bills are paid, and I'm happy to throw in extra stickers or parts all day long. Then I'll have months where I'm damn near broke, and literally having to decide whether I mail a customers' package or put gas in the car.
It happens. No, it's no excuse, but it happens anyway.
Agreed. EVERYONE needs time off. BUT, to post an average 3+ times a day elsewhere, but not one post on his own site for people begging for updates?
-341 posts over two and a half years is "three-plus per day"? More of that New Math, maybe?
Oh my, LOTS of unanswered posts!!! What say YOU to that? 1 1/2 months, not a post reply. Nevermind unanswered e-mails. But we'll go CRAZY posting on our HOBBY site. Yeah... OK
-Yup. I've done it myself. You assume that "unanswered posts" means Pun's out goofing off somewhere. And clearly he is, at least some of the time. I get the same thing- people assume that poor or nonexistent communication equals... what, that I'm out on a beach sipping rum drinks or something.
Sometimes I have to ignore people for a while or I never get anything done.
BUT, I'll still enjoy one of my other sites. You know, that hobby/enjoyment thing. Saying I- or we- shouldn't even be allowed that, says you think we should be chained to our desks twenty hours a day. And I've been there- after a while nothing gets done.
You've heard the joke "The Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves"? That's pretty much what you're saying here, and worse, you're pointing people over to Pun's hobby, so they can go piss in his Cheerios over there too. Do you really think that's going to help the situation?
Neither to I
-Tell you what; Put in a years' worth of twelve and fourteen-hour days, including (in my case, at least) your birthday, Christmas, New Years' Day, Valentines' Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving Day and the Fourth of July, stop watching TV, stop going to any movies, stop visiting bars or any other social hangout, and spend all day, every day, fixing and modding paintball guns, then each evening, all evening answering hundreds of E-mails, most of which deal with the same goddam question you've already answered dozens of times before.
Then we'll talk.
Let me point back to his site where someone even said he had been waiting SEVEN ( 7 in case you need help ) YEARS!!!
What say YOU?
-I see a customer that said " Still willing to wait as long as it takes "
What say you when Pun's work is in such demand that a customer is willing to "wait as long as it takes"?
He didn't say "willing to wait as long as it takes to make that bastard pay!", did he?
Shut off the lights and close the door. Yes, understand. But when I project is two or three years old. Don't you think it's time to pay up or put out. Or do you like keeping those lights off just a little too much?
-You misunderstand, as many often do. Personally, I like to keep my lights on, and the only way I've found to do that is to pay some people some money. Money, being a commodity that doesn't grow on threes- thankfully, lest we'd go broke in the winter- must be obtained in other ways. And still speaking personally, simple economics can and often will dictate, if not demand, that sometimes I must take in fresh work for a quick buck, instead of putting time into an existing project.
No, it's not really fair, but sometimes it's necessary and unavoidable.
Pun had to take a day job. I probably would have as well, had it not been for my books and shirts, among a few other factors.
Again, I can't speak for Pun, but nine times out of ten, I'd rather barely scrape along at this job, than take some meaningless desk-jockey job. Heck, as I said a few weeks ago, I could get hired on in the Oil Patch right now, and make sixty to eighty-five thousand a year right out of the starting gate. Problem is, I'd basically be doing nothing but cutting well-casing threads all day, with only the occasional pump housing or motor shaft to spice things up.
"Zing", huh? "People like me"...? So you're saying you don't even have a project at Pun's? So what, you just happened across some of Pun's posts on the Neon board, decided to get all vindictive and come here to post -anonymously- just to watch the hornets buzz around all angry-like?
What, you couldn't find any flies to pull the wings off of, or something?
