Fire Hazard Ahead!

by

Hehe, nothing a good source of coolant or a air hose cant fix. And if those were to fail I have the chemical fire extinguishers handy at work...

Started with a 2'x10"x6" magnesium billet, then cut them it into 6 blanks and finished squaring the first 3 today. This is my first time doing this, so I probably could have gotten more blanks out of the billet, but whatever...

Since we dont have the equipment at my work ( http://www.metalpro.com/equipment.htm ) to do gundrilling, I'm using the EBM-2600 CNC machine designed to hold 6'x6' 2000lb steel pieces to do the drilling of the bores, at the recommendation of my boss.

So tomorrow, I will be drilling the top tube, and depending on how that goes, then the next 2 of the first "batch". The lower tube will be a little different, with multiple bores. If all goes well, I should be done with the tube drilling by friday.
