You have to think of all involved - including the woman. I see domestic abuse as another form of Terrorism. The perp uses various techniques to make his/her target afraid to the point where fear rules the target's life.
Down in Florida, many people are thinking along similar lines as an arsonist has been arrested. The people who lost their homes and everything inside want Justice for what happened to them.
All of the above answers are opinions. It's what people would like to do to the perp if they were allowed to do so. The Law, however, already has punishments in place, even if it doesn't agree with the People's version of Justice.
