Not the case for a non-negligible population of the US, and I have a feeling they are the ones who don't care for the environment, who are the ones who want to drill there.
They would be stopped by the fact that their bible says to take care of animals, and that they belong to their god, and they are supposed to make every effort to care for the wildlife's well-being.
