Sorry if I don't take your word for that Don. I've been to the Slope and seen the drilling techniques. The current North Slope is a tiny dot in a vast wilderness as it is, and those installations were put in long before there were any environmental restrictions or area restrictions.
Today, we can put in ice pads, install portable drilling modules, drill sideways from that pad, remove the modules come spring, and after the pad melts, you're left with undisturbed tundra, a wellhead the size of a large refrigerator, and a pipeline made of flexible stainless that's just laid on top, and can be removed once that well stops producing.
I've been there, I've seen it. Please excuse me when I don't take your word that it'll be "worse" for some unstated reason.
