The people you speak of(Christians?) would probably argue that while resources(animals, land, timber, etc.), they are given to the responsible uses of man.
Your use of Psalm 50:10 appears to be out of context when you read the surrounding verses. The section of Psalm 50 you refer to is in regard to sacrifices, and whether or not God needs them.
It's interesting that you chose Proverbs 12:10, since Proverbs 12:11 appears to directly relate to what we're talking about(working land for gain). Proverbs 12.
To sum things up, I think you'll find that most Christians believe that they are called to be stewards("rulers" has a negative connotation in our western culter; good rulers provide and care for their people) by Genesis 1:24-28. It seems to me that many of the techniques Doc mentioned several posts above this one would be very acceptable to people wanting to facilitate use of resources, while damaging the environment as little as possible.
I'm not trying to bludgeon you about the head and shoulders with a Bible or anything, but would like to clear up some possible misconceptions. By the way, I think the techniques Doc mentioned in that post are pretty freaking awesome. I mean, an ice pad? Only in Alaska... OK, and anywhere else that freaking cold for so long.
