Solar powered paintball gun

by

Hey guys one of my new ideas for a project is kinda odd and obvious.

A solar powered paintball marker.

I got the idea as at my job there are many items with small solar power panels and none of them work. Not being sure if this is something wrong with the panels or the design (they actually have AA batteries in them as well.....not sure if that is to transfer from DC to AC through the battery and I'm not even sure the batteries are rechargeable as in the solar power charges the battery which powers the fountain/light/whatever).

So far I have only managed to get ahold of one panel (saved it from a busted ornament), about 2 inches by 3 inches (not enough power) and I know I'll need more.

Does anyone know anything about solar power. The panel I got is routed to a board which then sends to a battery which wires back to the board and then into the light. Pretty complex for one tiny bulb and only a on/off switch. Also the panels' cells all appear finely cracked so i'm not certain if this panel is even any good. Will it need to be transfered to AC or can I plug it straight in as DC?

Any knowledge anyone can share will be appreciated, as I have some time as I slowly amass more panels from work as they head to the rubbish bin.
