One friend put a siren for his alarm system INSIDE the car, way under the dash where it could not be easily silenced.
His thinking was folks tended to ignore car alarms, but with close to 200db's wailing inside the car most thieves could not work inside it.
He set it off once while we were in the car...and he was right. It was physically painful to stay in the car and we jumped out very fast and nearly involuntarily...
