At least if it was a GOOD brand where the unit and the faceplate was 'paired' to work with each other.
I know the one on my old Pioneer set is coded.
It IS posssible to get a faceplate that works, but you'll need the serial number and a proof of purchase from the original store.
And even then, it will probably be almost as expensive as buying a new unit...
