I like the manifold idea, I hate most forms of plastic plumbing (PEX, PB, etc)

by

I work at apartment complex that has several buildings that were done in PB. The pipe itself isn't all that bad, but the connectors are drop shipped from Hell. We ended up having three forms of the basic barb/hose clamp arangement. The "hose clamps" are the swaged ones made of copper. Some of the older ones that we see have a seam that likes to split. The newer ones are seamless and not as bad. The barbed fittings include plastic ones, copper ones, and brass ones. The plastic ones break with too much side loading, the copper ones corrode eventually, the brass ones actually hold up pretty well.

So far with PEX, I see the same crop of crappy fittings. I have heard though, the SharkBite ones aren't too bad....>

Were I to plumb a house from scratch, it'd be flared copper tubing all the way happy.gif
