I think that post I made was probably the smartest bit of drunk texting I've ever done. I did call my fishing guide buddy and ripped him a new asshole for recommending it--only to have him come back at me with the fact I'd misheard him and was damn lucky I asked a second opinion.
He meant for me to lightly heat the prop and let it normalize before etching it in the acid--not quench. But he didn't know it was NiBral and mirrored what everyone said here. So my buddy cooked up a story about hitting a sunken boat in the shallows and the company replaced it for free. End of story.
