As for the religious zanies.......this isn't the way that I would recommend to too many people for scaring them off, but...
Try opening the house door during belly-dance practice in full mufti. Veil, sequinned bra, girdle and skirt - the whole nine yards. I've never seen jaws drop so far in my life. Or see two guys back off and bolt as fast as they did. My dance partner almost wet himself laughing, mostly because I was so damned insulted! )This was back when I was in my thirties and had a pretty trim figure, even if it's me that says so.) After that I never had one of them come back to my door (or have a booklet tucked into my mailbox), and I was there for a good 5 or 6 years.
