. . . is kinda like the stuff that Printed Circuit Boards are made of, only with a different resin and fiber.

You may be more familiar with "Bakelite" which is an older version of the same stuff. It's quite popular in High Voltage and Automotive applications because it's dimensionally stable at elevated temperatures, and doesn't absorb water or oils as much as, say, nylon or pvc.
