I spent a couple days in the vicinity of Airventure this year. One day on the ground at Appleton working overflow traffic from Wittman, and a second day above the show doing precautionary search and rescue flights. Civil Air Patrol has some very interesting benefits. Add to that our eight or so pilots (and one retired Navy SEAL) in our squadron, and we've got a really good source of all kinds of knowledge.
