As far as executive experience, by the Texas state Constitution, The Governor of Texas is actually one of the weakest executives in the states. It was designed that way after the Civil war and reconstruction so that the executive branch could not dominate the state the way the Carpetbaggers had done after the war. The major executive in Texas is oddly enough the Lt. Gov. This IAW the teachings of my mandatory Texas History/ Politics Prof. in College. Nt that I am dinging Perry but the press seems reluctant to point this out.
