I remember when the EV1 first came out. I -loved- concept. No gas, simple design. A cool novelty, like those 3-wheel cars.
But at TWICE the price of a comparable gas-powered car, its no 3-wheeled Cushman.
Its a Luxury Novelty Item. Thats a tough sell that eliminates nearly the entire pool of potential buyers.
And the technology simply is not there. Any quote of range from an electric car is usually about HALF that in reality. The EVI quoted 100 miles, usually got 50. The Volts quote 50, usually get 25.
Someday, if they ever make batteries that can store 100 times more, maybe we will be somewhere. But that may never happen.
