Yeah, it's hard to find respectable artists out there, but they -are- out there. As far as ones that develop non-bizarre characters, I don't have any offhand to link. Either they don't really have any personal characters, or the characters are somewhat as you describe. Not as sexually focused, thankfully, but abnormal designs none-the-less.
I'll throw links to a few higher-quality and higher-standard artists that I watch. There may be adult stuff in the galleries, but these artists are at least not focused on such things.
