Generally meteor scatter works best on the 60 meter (50MHz) band. I have not heard much action being done on the higher freqs. And all I have that covers the 60 meters is my FT-817, with no directional antenna, and only 5 watts, I've not much chance of reaching anyone.
One of the reasons I drool profusely every time I find a listing of a FT-736 with all the modules plugged in.
