A friend of mine used to work as a field service engineer. One of his clients was a munitions plant that made (among other things) the ammo for those guns. According to what they told him, on an attack run that gun can put about 8 rounds on the same spot on a tank's armor at speed. So they load it so 5 out of 6 rounds are depleted uranium slugs to beat a hole in the armor, allowing #6 (high explosive) to fly through and work its magic on the inside.
