Technically, Robo (or rather Doctor Atomic Robo Tesla ) IS a billionaire, at least in that, during certain parts of the storyline, he commands huge federal agencies with billions' worth of budget.
But supposedly he also holds several of Tesla's patents (it makes sense in the storyline) and inherited his fortune when he died. (Yeah, alternate-history Earth, just roll with it. )
On the other hand, this is the same comic where the Nazis managed to launch a "Thor's Hammer" type doomsday satellite, which went undetected 'til the 2000s, the Japanese built a flying superbattleship/aircraft carrier along with an "earthquake bomb", one of the most popular weapons everyone uses is a Tesla-based "Lightning Gun", and Robo himself is a thinking, fully sentient atomic-powered bipedal robot, built by Tesla in something like 1917.
So yeah, something like "Nuke-B-Gon" is hardly the most absurd thing to mention about that strip.
And, for those of you who have no idea what we're talking about: Atomic Robo. Start at the beginning- it's serialized, and broken up into nice, relatively short graphic-novel-length storylines, and they all tie together brilliantly.
The stories can be read separately, you don't have to know what happened before to know what's happening now, but it makes for a great overall storyline.
And, it has mad scientist dinosaurs, evil Nazi mad scientists that tried to conquer the Old West (no, that's not a typo, and oddly enough, all those things are actually kind of related ) giant "Pacific Rim" style monsters and piloted robots, and lots and lots of things explode, sometimes for no reason, but occasionally just because it's funny.
