You have that many Darwin Award winning drivers going out there on a lake they know is too thin (past all the warning signs...) and dropping in their prized cars and trucks.
They need to get dinged with polluting the lake, and all the costs of going out and retreiving the vehicles.
SoCal, we just get a lady that follows a Flood Control District truck and drives down an access ramp into a flood control channel - which wasn't so bad till she passes the truck full of puzzled workers and takes it up to freeway speeds...
Went over some stair-step drop-offs (think man-made waterfalls) that hurt her bad, and then darned near over an 8-foot drop-off into the main Los Angeles River channel but she got stopped just in time.
