It could be an ad-blocker that is giving problems or Peerblock I installed peerblock a while back and had lots of problems viewing websites until I told Peerblock to allow HTTP.
I haven't played DFX as I heard it wasn't that good, after DF2 I went on to play Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.
When I played DF2 I went under the name "Madcat =DMS=" I was a in a European clan called =DMS= Demonstrating my style, I was usually either a Sniper or a Ninja ( I used to pop up out of nowhere and kill with my knife :D).
