My view on the whole situation? Screw 'em, basically. Wikipedia as an information engine is a great thing. Wikipedia as a specific example of a wiki, however, is a steaming pile, crumbling under it's own weight and mismanagement. If you're concerned about having a wiki presence, it makes more sense to go with one of the smaller, more specialized wikis like the aforementioned WikiFur, or Comicspedia (I can't remember the spelling of that one) and the like.
I do wonder if Wikipedia has an article on itself--it'd be an amusing troll move to get people in and vote for it's deletion due to a lack of notability.
