The pill
by Dana
In response,
Be aware that the pill is ok for those who have not had a tubal. For those of us who have had tubals "the pill" can cause a thickening of the uterine wall, and speed up and increase the need for a hystroectomy. GYN'S will prescribe "the pill" to help control heavy bleeding that tubals can cause. There is a difference between "the pill" and HRT. Before you take anything, insist that your hormone leavels are tested! . As a woman cycles, she produces estrogen to cause a period, and then produces progestrone to cleans the body of estrogen to help the period stop. Tubals can cut off the blood supply to the overies and cause hormone imbalances. That is why Dr.H and Susan stress getting hormone levels checked!
If your doctor is not willing to get your hormone levels tested and is recommending "the pill" ask for a referal to an endocrinologist. An endocrinologist specializes in Endocrine glands. (I will as soon as I can).
After suffering from the side effects of Provera( prescribed for heavy periods), and Zoloft(an anti-depresant), I've decided try herbal remedies such as St.John's wart, and a progestrone cream. These remedies have not solved the effects I suffer from PTS, but they help make it surviveable with out causing further problems (sick from side effects of Provera and Zoloft) My heart goes out to all of you suffering from PTS! Don't give up! Keep searching untill you find answers for what works for you! You are not alone![[[[[hugs]]]]] always, Dana
