Re: Don't put words in my mouth.

For the record, I did not state anything of the such about Dr. Hufnagel, and I do not agree. I did state that people (not me) have called her a quack and a fraud, (as I had read what that YOU wrote this statment at the chat the night before).
Becaue of your statments you made about Dr. Hufnagel and about myself, I did open myself to questions and offered to answer the best I could. I did not slander Dr. Hufnagel. Sorry.
Dr. Hufnagel has been politically attacked for years for speaking out about women's health abuses. In the short time I've known her I have witness this first hand, and have even witnessed this here. The big tidal wave came with her book No More Hysterectomies (in which she states information about Tubal Ligation). No one dared to write about this information (the hysterectomy racket, AND information about tubal ligations) before. While the book was hailed (and still is considered by many) "the bible" for women facing hysterectomies, her peers and the ACOG black listed her for writing the book and for the work which she did writting the hysterectomy informed consent laws in CA, NY, and TX. This is all history. Today doctors will admit that there was a time when too many hysterectomies were being performed and that many were unnecessary.
The medical community who would still like to silence Dr. Hufnagel wants you to think she is a fraud, because then they could discredit everything she says, even about tubal ligation. - but she speaks out on other current abuses such as UAE. Those that promote UAE have posted transcripts of the charges that were made against Dr. H by the CMB years ago, but do you know the outcome of the case??? The outcome of her case was decided before it every began. The only problem was she won. 12-0 The CMB took her license anyway. There is a similar case in IL pending, and that doctor is now suing the IL medical board (DPR). - But I won't bore you with the details. You can find more information about this at her site.
You state you found SEVERAL web sites that give information on the risks of most of the symptoms of PTLS. - These web sites did not exist until after this web site began.
You state that if women are not informed it's "because they have not researched as deeply as they should…" NO - doctors who perform the TL surgery have a duty to inform, and they don't. Not all women can read, speak English, or have access to the Internet. The brochures and information that are given to women by the ACOG, Planned Parenthood, and the verbal information given to women about TL by their MDs do NOT explain the possible side effects of TL. Those who promote or perform TL do NOT inform of PTS.
>>Now, if you were trying to get everyone to write to the medical board, or their state reps, I would be on your bandwaggon, <<
This is one of the actions suggested by the CPTwomen: See "Actions to take" : http://www.tubal.org/medical_boards.htm Women are encouraged not only to wage complaints about not having been informed by their TL doctor, but also against doctors who are now refusing to help them. The CPTwomen will even assist in waging complaints to the medical boards.
Form letters that women (and men) can print and send to their state reps are being created. Please keep in mind that this is all grass roots. Information and forms are posted when they are completed. Anyone wishing to help compose form letters, links as to who to write to, or wishing to host a chat is welcome to do so.
>>Also, as stated before, you put the political issues first, <<
I don't believe I have ever stated this.
I do not put the political issues first. The first priority for any post tubal women is 1st their health and well being. This includes support.
>>The support issues should come FIRST. <<
I agree. - But women also need to be educated 1. about the condition of PTS and 2. Why they were not informed so they can make some sense in what is going on.
>>Help these women get their emotions together, so that they are well enough to take a political stance and be taken seriously...not as a bunch of nut cases, which is what we all feel like most of the time.
I agree.-
