Test Results

by Denise

I had a blood test about two weeks ago. The Dr. who did it said he could read hormone levels and did not need to do the tests that are suggested on the web site so I figured here we go again. But....to my surprise I went back yesterday and he was shocked. First of all he said he had never seen hormone levels so low in a thirty four year old. Said I was headed straight for menopause on the fast track. He also forgot that I was taking an estrogen dominant birth control pill and when I reminded him he was shocked. My estrogen level was 1/4 of where it needs to be(on the pill) my progestrone level was way to low and my DHEA was low, my thyroid was low and my testosterone was no where to be found. So I am going to start bio identical HRT as soon as the pharmacy makes up the cream and he has got me on some vitamins, and DHEA and pregolone hormone and human growth hormone so I will keep you posted. LADIES DO NOT GIVE UP!!! Even if the Dr. orders the blood work says you are fine, get a copy of the blood work and take it to another Dr. and endocrinologist or a Dr. who claims to specialize in womens hormaonal issues. Just because your tests come back in the "normal" range does not mean you are fine and "only crazy", WE ARE ALL INDIVIDUALS AND OUR BODIES ARE NOT ALL THE SAME. WHAT IS NORMAL FOR YOU MAY NOT BE NORMAL OR 'BALANCED' FOR ME. Diane I know exactly how you feel. I almost cancelled my appointment to get my level reading because I was horrified that one more MD was going to tell me to go to a shrink. I actually started to cry when the nurse said it is not in your head your levels are way off. I hugged her. Hang in there. Keep reading and researching and journaling your symptoms and take it all with you to any and all Drs you see. If they think your nuts, gather up your stuff and try another Dr. You are worth it and so is your family. A great book is Screaming To Be Heard by Dr. E. Vliet She has clinics in AZ and Texas, but you can get the blood work ordered by her and have it analyzed by her and have a phone consult to get some help and it is my understanding that you will be able to then get the meds you need to be balanced from your Dr. Ladies do not give up.. I have felt like giving up everyday for almost 1 year and I did not. And if for some reason this Dr. can not help me I will continue to search or my fanny will be down in Tucson AZ with Dr. Vliet. She is expensive but my life and family are worth every penny. The only reason that I am trying this other Dr. is because he take my insurance and he assures me that he can help. P.S. His nurse had a t.l. 21 years ago and after 10- years of telling people she was not right since she gave up, She started working for this Dr. 11 years ago and she got her life back thanks to him...so she swears.

I was hesitant about telling you all this because I got my test results but I have not started treatment yet and ddo not want to get anyones hopes up, most of all mine. One big thing is walking 1 mile 7 days a week, stay away from sugar, caffine, Carbos, ALCOHOL, and any kind of drugs and nicotine. Good Luck. I will keep you all posted. DO NOT GIVE UP. BE AGGRESSIVE AND DO NOT JUST SIT AND WAIT TO "BALANCE OUT!"
