For those who were not already aware of how women are treated in other parts of the world, 911 was a wake-up call.
Women in other parts of the world face abuses such as female mutilation, (so they are not sexual promiscuous), and are stoned to death if they appear in public unveiled. Wearing make-up in Afghanistan is punishable by death. Women are not allowed to be educated, are not allowed to learn to read, are not allowed to hold a bank account in their name, and are not allowed to teach or speak in public. It is as if Margaret Atwood's 1986 book, The Handmaid's Tale, came to be.
Civil rights, human rights, and women activists for years have demanded that the US and the UN to put an end to these abuses. Official replies on why no action would be taken against the dictator's of these countries who allow and encourage these practices were, "that's their custom, who are we to do anything about this…?"
It took a massive act of terrorism on US soil to bring to the public forefront how these women were being treated under their current dictatorship.
We in the US are so very lucky. We have rights, we are protected, and we have freedom. This type of abusive treatment would never happen to US women,… or would it?

911 - Wake-up Call for US Women! Under the current AMA and ACOG dictatorship, as is their custom, US women are refused education and are routinely altered and mutilated without forewarning. We saw this with DES, Ova-bloc, and with unnecessary hysterectomies. We are witnessing ongoing abuses of unnecessary hysterectomies, forced consent for tubal ligation, and forced consent to UAE. Women are refused education of the known risks and side effects. The dictatorship profits from this abuse and encourages and rewards those that wage it.
Acts of state sponsored terrorism have been and still are waged upon doctors who dare to lift the veil and educate women.
The veil which US women are shrouded in is not visibly seen, but just the same it is black and heavy and deprives women of oxygen that is needed to keep the fire of truth burning. This veil is just as freighting and more so as it's not seen and most don't know that the veil exists.
