The cure for PTS

by Susan

All women want to know "what is the cure for PTS"?

First of all I don't belive there is a cure for any type of medical condition. Only treatments.

What treatment works for one woman may not be the best treatment for the next.

In my case both ovaries failed. I did not have the bleeding disorders and pain assocated with most women who suffer PTS. Because of this I'm not a canidate for corrective surgery or hysterectomy. I don't suffer with pelvic pain so why would I want to remove my uterus? For this time HRT is best for me to treat the surgical menopause which occured. Does being on HRT completly reverse and cure my menopause? No.

If a woman is not suffering a hormonal imbalance (say her ovaries didn't fail), but is developing ando because areas of her uterus was affected, and is in pain, then surgery may be the best choice for her.
If the pain is not too great, she may opt to do nothing and live with it. (Or a combination of both) - It may be as the ando develops over time (say 5 to 7 years), the pain becomes greater, the bleeding greater, (as the ando affected more and more of the uterus?) she then starts with "living with it" and then later decides surgery is best.

The first step to any type of treatment is to seek help from a medical proffesional.
Discuss diagonsis and treatment options for what symptoms you are experiencing.

Most "treatments" offered by doctors for typical PTS symptoms include ablation, hysterectomy, and conventional HRT. Treaments should be covered by insurance. It's not likely a doctor will call your condition "PTS", but most likely will label it as pelvic pain, bleeding disorder, hormone imbalance, etc.. It's not likely that a doctor will suggest a tubal reversal for treatments of symptoms.
