Maybe it is......

I just wanted to let you know something in case it helps you with any further diagnosing. I have 4 children, but after my third child, my periods changed DRAMATICALLY. Very much like you described - dropping clots so big you thought it was another child. I infact had the VERY same thought. The only difference is that I didn't have a tubal then, or even a C-section. It was a normal everyday birth. After that my periods were like that - heavy, clotty and long (5-7 days). I had to wear tampons WITH a pad just incase I'm out too long, because I will bleed right through EVERYTHING - quite embarassing. My doctors checked me out and everything was fine and as long as I wasn't bleeding through a pad an hour they didn't worry. (Also, I have a friend who has never had any surgeries, just 4 children (3 pregnancies - 1 set of twins) and she bleeds so bad she can't get off the toilet 1 day out of the month. Her iron gets so low that one month they wanted to give her a blood transfusion. It was at 8.something and they give transfusions at 8 - but she said no and went home and took iron pills. This started for her after having babies. She had very normal pregnancies and deliveries - she also knows of 2 other people with the same kind of thing. I knew a girl back in high school that bleed like that from the time she got her period and when she had kids it lightened up for her. I have recently had my fourth child 7 months ago and I had my tubal 1 day after also. I still have very heavy, clotty periods but only for 2-3 days now. (each time I have had a child my periods have changed in some way.) I'm on this site because I too was not informed of side effects and I have a few complaints. Irregular periods, (sometimes 14 days, sometimes 45-60 days in between) excessively tired when my periods run on past 30 days and CRABBY, CRABBY, CRABBY too. I don't deny there are side effects, but I can tell you that the bleeding and the pain can be a side affect of having a baby. Also the irritable bowel syndrome (with and without periods) I had that really bad after my 1st child. My whole life changed. I totally had to plan my days around "What if I need a bathroom" cause I had no control. I went to doctor after doctor after doctor. I drank tons of metamucil - gross...... I totally watched the spicy foods, I did every thing. But, nothing helped except when I got pregnant with my second child. I don't know if getting pregnant helped or not, but I don't have it anylonger at all. I hope something here helps. I know I had a whole bunch of trouble after my first child and tried getting doctors to help me and take me seriously. (I had really, really bad back problems along with the IBS (irritable bowel syndrome)-that also have gone mostly away with other pregnancies). It's horrible when you feel horrible and they say something like, "It's cause your overweight." No Jerk, I'm overweight because I can't walk upright or get off the couch cause my back hurts so bad AND I'm tired all the time. The only thing I can say is.... Try to just keep going. MENTALLY, physically and with the doctors. DON'T give into it. It will only get worse if you do.
