question about consent

When I had my TL, it was the day after my 2nd childs birth. Of course, throughout my pregnancy I talked with my doctor about not wanting to have any more children and I wanted to make sure he understood the words NO MORE. But when I had my tubes tied they forgot to have me sign a consent form and never explained to me the risks I could have after the surgery. In fact, the only risks they discussed with me were the side effects of anestiesia during the surgery. As I have stated in my posting, I have had many problems since the surgery, and most recently I have had an ectopic pregnancy. Do you agree that it would be smart for me to contact my lawyer now?
