regarding complaint

by

He was recently appointed Director. The health board asked me if I would like to meet with him or if I would like a second opinion. So I said I would like both. There will also be a woman there who is the assistant general manager for women, children and diagnostic services. (I have never heard of her) I don't know what capacity she will be there in.
I figure that if I can face him I will be able to deal with anything else that they can throw at me and if anyone else here wants to complain I will have the experience to help them through this.
I am only at the beginning of the complaints procedure and if I am not happy with how they deal with it I can take it several stages higher. I plan to go all the way. Unless I get results.

When I first enquired about sterilisation(usually here women request it, the doctors don't push it, but they don't explain either) I was concerned about being able to feel the clips because I had bother with an IUD, when I did yoga, I could feel it sticking into my spine.
He told me that no one had ever felt the clips, so I want to tell him to his face that I know this is not true. Hopefully, he will not be able to lie about this again.
I have already seen a different consultant and several GPs. They all back each other up. I think it all boils down to money. I spoke to a woman recently who has such bad pain that she is hospitalised every month and put on morphine. They have told her that they will do a hysterectomy but if she wants a reversal she will have to pay herself. The health boards could not afford to pay for reversals for every woman who is not happy with her sterilisation, not to mention possible litigation, so I think they will deny this to the bitter end.

The basis of my complaint is lack of information on possible side effects, which invalidates my consent form.
I also objected to them saying that you can go back to work after 2 days. It really trivialises how much pain you are in and just how serious this operation is. They are currently denying that it affects ovarian function or can cause menopausal symptoms. I have found medical sources to back up most of my complaints so they can't deny them. The complaints officer also advised me to bring a friend or relative for support and I have a friend who will come with me. I know a woman who is a lawyer and she also used to be a nurse, I will ask her if she can come as well but I don't know if she can. I had an article in a magazine about my sterilisation recently. The journalist who did it could not find anyone in authority who admitted there was a problem.

I have spoken with mothers and distributed leaflets at my local playgroup and several of them that were considering sterilisation have changed their minds. I will be speaking to an MSP(Member of the Scottish Parliament) who is interested at the end of this month as well so she can raise this issue with the Scottish Office. I hope to get a support group going here by next month.
I am working on a web page as well, it is at http://posttubal.topcities.com/
