I just found this website yesterday and immediately joined. I think this may be a godsend! I had a tubal back in 1988 after the birth of my second daughter, just before my 30th birthday. Other than a weight gain around my midsection and beginning to tire easily, it wasn't until I was 39 that I began feeling extremely lousy all the time. Now, at age 46 (soon to be 47), my life is at times hell. I have most of the symptoms of PTLS all of the time and they intensify in the 2 weeks before my period. For the past 8 years, my doctors have ordered test after test and still can find nothing wrong. I've had numerous blood tests, stress tests and MRIs, ultrasounds, and cat scans of various body parts. I even had a radioactive iodine uptake when ultrasound results indicated that I had a nodule on my thyroid. Every test always comes back normal. I've seen cardiologists, a neurologist, an otologist ... the list is endless. I was initially diagnosed with fibromyalgia, but after changing doctors, my current doctor gave me the points test, and I was found to not have it. I think that when we go to the doctor with a laundry list of symptoms, they are overwhelmed and zero in on 1 or 2 of the symptoms. When the tests come back normal, they decide that the problem is depression. I don't doubt that depression comes with the frustration of feeling like garbage all of the time and not being able to get any help. I've been on a few different antidepressants over the years, none of which help. I currently take no medication and am in one of my "I'm just going to have to live with this" phases and haven't been back to the doctor since the end of last year. I am now going to make an appointment yet again, but will be providing my doctor with the list of hormone tests recommended by this site. I doubt that any of my previous blood tests included the extensive list found here.

Sorry for the long post, but I don't personally know anybody else going through this. I am the only person among my family and friends who has had a tubal. It feels so good to talk about this with others who understand.

My family doctor is pretty good about listening, but for future reference, is there a list of physicians who are knowledgeable about this syndrome? It would be so much easier to see a doctor who supports this diagnosis.

Thanks for listening.
