EMDR?

Well, my C has said this is a good theropy to try. I am skeptical but will try almost anything to root out the PTSD. Has anyone ever done this? does it work. Any information would be welcome. Just can't figure out how eye movement can "reconnect" anything.

Thanks

Mark

EMDR

Go Go Go. It is life changing. It is really tough at first, but stay for the payoff. I am sure there will be surprises for you. Word of caution. Not all EMDR therpist are created equal, do your homework to find a great one. There should be a local board, which is usually headed by the best candidates.

EMDR doesnt take away the memory, it takes the pain associated with the memory and unfreezes it to the present. It is not a miracle, but it is a God send. I was able to stop my depression meds over a month ago. I am a little edgy at times, which I am able to recognize, but the picture of my life is no longer clouded by a sedative.

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

May 14 2004, 8:10 PM

I went through a an whole set of EMDR sessions to help me deal with my PTSD issues from the betrayals. In my own case, it didn't do squat, & I had an excellent therapist. Your results may vary.

EMDR is falling out of favor now....the new thing is "Neurofeedback", done with a computer & special software that helps a person achieve an "alpha" brain wave state, which is supposed to be most conducive to healing.

Thought this would help
