For Kim, J J, Laura and others that have lost loved ones

a friend sent this to me..

I am standing upon the shore. A ship at my side
Spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and
Starts for the deep blue waters.
She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs
Like a speck of white cloud just where the waters
And the sky come to mingle with each other.

Then someone at my side says," There, she is gone!"
"Gone where?" Gone from my sight. That is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull and spar
AS she was when she left my side, and she is
Just as able to bear her load of living freight
To her destined port. Her diminished size is in me,
Not in her. And just the moment when someone
at my side says: "There she is gone!"
There are other eyes watching her coming and
Other voices ready to take up the glad shout:
"Here she comes!" And that is dying.

Thank you. It was beautiful. I cried because when my grandpa died, Steve said to me that he was with his mom. I believe that when I die, the first person I will see is my other grandpa who died when I was 16. We were pretty close and I miss him, as I do everyone else, but there is something about him that I think he watches over me, I don't think of what I will see or what Heaven will be like, I just think of giving him a hug and telling him I have missed him. That he is waiting for me to give me a hug as well.

Pat, This is really beautiful. Its so hard letting someone go, but the analogy is a wonderfully comforting way to look at death in another perspective. I'm going to hold onto this. Thank you. BlueIris

Sweet. Thanks. I like that perspective Dad's sailing the seven seas with Mom
