OT - Job SituationApril 2 2008 at 6:58 AM | Dave (Login Subbster51) Member |
| I recieved word last night that I got the transfer in my company. I will be a Product Support Manager, basically a go to guy on several types of equipment.
Initially I will have to be gone from home for three weeks, and conduct training classes three or four times a year at the home office. Once everything is set up, I will be working from home via computer, phone, and fax. Also on average will spend 6 to 8 weeks a year on the road. But no more driving 5000 miles a month, and will have minimal time working in the heat and cold outside.
No loss or increase in salary but am back full time instead of 20 hours a week. I will be salaried and on call 24/7.
So a huge weight has been lifted with respect to financial issues.
As I said in another post, "When God shuts one door...he opens another." Where this door leads I am not sure, but as long as it is open for the next 6 years and I can hit 62 to retire, I will be thankful.
I know a couple of other folks are dealing with the same situation, don't give up hope.
Dave

Way to go Dave! I am so happy for you! Smart company! They know the best when they see it. Anyone who knows you knows what an honorable old fashioned work ethic you have. This time no pun on the old. It is the greatest compliment I can give you dear Dave. I am so happy for you my dear friend.
However, I really really did like the idea of you going into business for yourself. Anything you touch dear Dave would be a success. You are an incredible man Dave.
One day I hope to be able to get a guided tour around that lake of yours my friend. I miss you old pal.
Much love,
El |

Tour of the lake....heck if you get here you can drive the hemi and captian the boat on a fishing trip.
Only catch is it has to be in May or June of any given year cause thats when the walleye are on the bite...
El, what you have given with words to others over the years is a priceless gift of sharing...Your friendship, the little time we spent in Mass a few years back...well..those are memories that are beyond priceless.
In so many ways, your more my family, than my family...I guess that is "the greatest compliment I can give you" and I mean that with all my heart.
Take care of you and yours...
Dave
P.S. I spoke with the guy that will be my immediate superior today, making a few plans for the last two weeks of this month and the first week of next month. We bounced around a few ideas and I told him what I had done with techinical information such as hyperlinking manuals or specific information to a index...it blew him away. And then I told him its in a format that can be transfered from one computer to another and still have the hyperlinks work. (Not really that big of a deal) and that further shocked him.
He immediately recognized the time savings and the ability to cross train other Product Specialist's due to the format of the material. He said, "Thats a feather in your cap and your not even here yet." He asked me if I would be willing to work a special project with regards to organizing and updating our company's technical website. Guess I am going to be busy.
So...life is good...

Dave, I am so happy for you. What a relief. With this major hurdle cleared, I hope the other ones you're dealing with work out just as smoothly.
Blessings,

I am glad for you Dave - It makes me feel better seeing others come right - I am still struggling really but getting there.. facing the inevitable and trying to see the ok side of things - I end at the end of June (got my official letter of notice on Tuesday).
So, one door closing for me.. Looking for a door to open now!
may you be safe and well, contented and happy |
