After working at the same company as a temp in several departments for the last 15 months, I applied for and have been hired for a part time position. 16 hours a week, works around kids - couldn't ask for anything better. Well, I could, the raise I got!
But I had so much fun in drawing class tonight. We did figure drawing and we had a professional model. In all my years of drawing, I have never had the pleasure of drawing an honest to goodness nude. . Today, I did.
* I have only one semester of school left and all my classes will be online. That means that I will be able to quit my ever-so-hated job and start looking for work in my field.
* My hollyhocks, clematis and hostas are poking through the ground after a long rough winter.
* I started eating healthy and drinking lots of water, so I feel a MILLION times better. (now I just gotta get more than 4 hours of sleep a night )
* The repair work to my van after hitting a deer will cost me only half of what I thought. It's always good to have "connections"
I may not "say" much anymore, but I am always "listening"
My daughter and I missed each other so much while she was at D.C. with her school for 4 days that I kept her home from school yesterday and we had a girls day. We had a great day!
My 10 year old has finally gotten her head on straight concerning her schoolwork, and the little rewards we were bestowing at the end of every week seem to have helped do the trick! This was a major stressor for me, because she had a defeatest "I can't do it so why try" attitude for a good portion of the year. Now that's been replaced by a much more confident attitude. As a mom I'm really good (or bad?) at taking on the burdens of my children, and so this was literally keeping me up at night.
Another good thing, is spring is finally arriving in Alaska! It's taken FOREVER and we got record snowfall in April, after so much of it melted and we were teased with the notion of an early spring. I was beginning to think an Ice Age was headed our way, but now grass is on the majority of the lawn instead of piles of snow. Hoping by the end of this week I might actually be able to get the rake out, woohoo!
This makes me very Happy........My 6yr old D, whom I was told had a learning disability.....Has brought A's home 3 weeks in a row on her school work......Yay!!!!!!!

My Son who has struggled with a neurological disorder/learning disability..... is graduating from High school with all his marks over 75%!!!!
He is learning to drive and good at it!
He is a kind, responsible, big hearted young man.
I really feel proud to have raised him basically on my own.
I spent the last weekend with my sister, niece, and their 4 cats. I hadn't seen my niece in a while, so it was good to spend time with them both. My sister lives in a huge house in the middle of a bird sanctuary, so it was nice to sit in their backyard, to destress, and talk.. Fri nite, we drank some wine and watched the movie " Juno". The next day we had a super fun day, at this huge upscale mall, ( it has an outdoor market place adjacent to it), we were helping my niece look for clothes, and just window shopping in general....

So, this morning, prior to getting out of bed, my H rolls over and hugs me and says (reminder: we're 15 months post DD3), "You know, JJ, you have been so amazingly good lately; you haven't spoken about the A in weeks. Would you like to share with me what you're thinking?"
Wow. What a new H from the past who avoided A conversations like the plague!
So, I shared and he listened and he shared and I listened.
What a pleasant way to start the day.
And...by the way- for those still suffering out there...he said something interesting...
He recognizes now that the A was NOT about great sex. NOT about her at all. NOT about me or our M, which he thought was great. It was about HIM and how it excited him; the thrill of the moment. He gets panic attacks now thinking that he might be stuck with her and - as he said - her idiosyncracies and weak character.

Coming to you from JJ
Spring has arrived in northern Illinois, which means that my earlier blooming daffodils are open, as are the first of my tulips. I have sprayed Liquid Fence on my lilies, so the deer have decided not to eat them after all (hooray!). I have done most of the spring cleanup activities, and only have a few chores, like cutting off winter-killed rose branches, left to do.
Spring in the garden is a joyous time, and I am happy whenever it arrives.
I bought Liquid Fence after an acquaintance in the Bismarck, North Dakota, area recommended it to me. He has 25 or so acres, a fair amount planted in lilies with no fence around them.
Let me assure you that both rabbits and deer think lilies are the creme de la creme of the garden and do not hesitate to chomp them into nothingness.
My ND contact told me he had great success with Liquid Fence. Caveat emptor! The product contains putrified egg solids among other ingredients, so it smells. Bad. Really, REALLY bad.
I do not have a good sense of smell, so I wasn't horribly offended, but my H, who has as good of a sense of smell as I do a poor one, was so disgusted by the smell emanating from the front yard that he almost had to abandon his gardening in the back yard to escape the stench.
The smell fades by the next day, but the efficacy doesn't.
Ha ha! Take that your obnoxious eating machines!
Another product I tried that worked to ward off rabbits is called Squirrel Scoot. There is a version called Rabbit Scoot, but the active ingredient is weaker in the Rabbit version while the price is the same. Of course, I went for the stronger version. This product contains capsacin, and apparently rabbits don't particularly care for hot peppers any more than they do for putrified egg solids. I simply can't imagine why not!
We are planting a vegetable garden. It was my D idea. The poor thing was trying to grow vegetables in a pot and it didn't work. So we soften up some yard (where the dogs aren't allowed) and will plant this weekend. I just hope it gets enough sunlight!
I am just happy that spring is here! It's a great feeling!
I'd rather not talk about spring.
It's snowed at least 6 inches here, more in areas close to the mountains (my parents have a foot of snow accumulated), and I'm beginning to think there's an Ice Age around the corner.
Sorry Pat, I know this was supposed to be a happy thread, but the "spring" comment did it for me today. :blech: We've broken records on snowfall this late in the year, joy!
Gee .. I thought that there was global warming happening.. sorry you are having snow Sunflower.
Today was a great day, my H got good news about some business stuff.. my brother had a good blood test .. grandchildren are doing well, SIL had a great score on the golf course 67..

Last month my daughter (the budding professional dancer) whose group performed at a prestigous hall in Tel Aviv for dancers was mentioned personally in two seperate reviews on the performance. Both said she stood out as an exceptional dancer who danced with kinesthetic virtuosity and expression. She was the only dancer mentioned in both reviews.
The other great news is that my older daughter just spent the week here (she came in from the States) and I had lots of time with her and my younger daughter as well (also visits from sons and their families)... It was so great to have noise in the house again.
I hope you all have more happy experiences!!!
Diane
