How many no name players or players that they did not have in a certain spot get drafted and then become pretty solid players in the NFL?
How many so called can't miss players end up gone in 2 years.

It happens all the time. But it is difficult to believe that the franchise that just "tripled" their scouting staff from 1 to 3 does their due diligence on draft day.
Luck can be involved (see, the Houshmandzedeh pick over a decade ago), but otherwise, they are the team that looks at Mel's draft board, looks at McShay's draft board, identifies a team need looking at position ranking and not overall value, then considers the travel involved (i.e. flying someone in from Stanford is more expensive than flying someone in from Wisconsin), then makes a decision like this hoping that the sheep respond with comments like "it was a throw away pick anyways" or "we're talking about a guard here."
