Part of the hazards of doing engineering/technical work is from time to time you will draw unemployment. The worst time for me was in the mid 70's when we were in a deep recession and the job counselor would take my book and say sorry we don't have anything for you. That was when you would get 26 weeks and 3 extensions after that. I hated it because you didn't get $hit and you had to live on that and your standard of living took a hit. No fun - how people can stand being on welfare is bayond me - those people are generally living in squallor.
