JB,
i'm trying not to get too into the this person is good this person is bad thing, I'm just trying to point out that murph complaining about Palin getting such a hard time from the media is part of being political.
I do however find some of your arguments worth questioning. The last ones re: what assistants said about Sotomayer... If I remember correctly, without doing a google search, wasn't the same exact thing said about Palin??? I could swear I remember a good number of her staffers saying that she was difficult to work for and bossy.
I don't know anything about Palin... she may be a good person, but she may not be. I don't know how you deduce that she is a good person based on what you know of her...
Finally, I give it to you that she sat on the Energy commission up in Alaska for a couple of years. I don't know that her experience there gives her vast experience on energy issues for the entire country. I would instead say that she has a couple of years experience working with oil companies on the north slope.... I would be willing to wager that she knows virtually nothing about imported oil, about coal, or about alternative energy sources.
I would think that Palin was difficult in the sense that she does not have a long track record to examine. Her experience is incredibly limited. What do you do with that in a political situation? You work with what you have and what the candidate gives you. Palin handed the media herself on a platter. She preached abstinence, and didn't tell anyone about her daughter until it was inevitably going to be found out... she gave horrible and un-informed interviews that made it plain that she was in over her head. She lauded how she stopped the bridge to nowhere and then everyone found out she kept the money. She highligted her own hypocrisies and pandered to the farthest right of the most polarizing issues in our nature, solidifying her base but also solidifying the points where people were going to come after her in an emotional and personal manner.
"Well, it ain't braggin' if it's true
Yes sir, yes sir
It ain't braggin' if it's true
Muhammad Ali said that
Back when he was a young man
Back when he was Cassius Clay
Before he fought too many fights
And left his brain inside the ring" |
