I completely respect that decision, even more so since it is the Lions and not some organization with a recent history of success.
Don't respect bandwagon fans (I usually call them on "dyk ryderz") at all, never have. Met a guy recently who was a Yankees/Lakers fan. Never lived in either city. I just can't respect that.
That's why it was so hard to give up on the Bungs. I genuinely have an affinity for the underdog. But rooting for the Bungs is like rooting for, um, hem, haw, I can't even think of an analagous example of something or someone that chooses to compete but has no interest in winning. Like rooting for the Washington Generals against the Harlem Globetrotters? That's the best I got.
I like the Lions. Also have family up there. I was actually thinking maybe the Chiefs, but honestly I don't know if I can ever just switch teams. Rooting for 0-16 may be all I got, sadly.
