Yeah, let's just assume that nobody in power will ever abuse such a law. Government and military people never do anything like that. Totally trustworthy, 100% down the line. Mistakes just don't happen, especially without legal oversight. And laws never, ever, ever, get expanded once a precedent is set.
And who decides if someone is a terrorist, or is aligned with terrorists, or is suspected of such?
Innocent people can be detained indefinitely without any legal proceedings, any time, anywhere. But don't get too worked up about this. T and Bronco say it's unlikely to happen to YOU.
And if this has a chilling effect on political dissent, don't be too concerned about that either. Because it's highly unlikely that YOU will be detained indefinitely without legal proceedings.
So don't be a "boogeyman believer", because YOU will never be detained for terrorism, "not in a million years".
